Among other possible sites, we choose the one in
which the main location features came together the artificial
slopes of the old rubbish tip, the Teide´s majestic
summit, the Atlantic view, and the Southern Freeway with the
aim of making with all these elements a landscape reinterpretation
wilfully at odds with physical organicism, but rigorously
contextualist in relation to both, landscape and the environmental
program.
We propose a non-scale construction of an extreme ambiguity,
able to be watched at 120 km per hour as a billboard that
reclaims a public dimension for its recycling activities (so
important for the balance of the fragile island ecosystem),
but also receiving any visitors who approach as a filter that
blends with the sky, and that as it rises up from the ground
integrates the ocean, the Teide and the breeze within the
building, generating an open-air atrium in which a didactic
tour begins directly on an exhibition and documenting of the
place and its activity, in order to finish with a general
visit to the installations. All the materials used are artificial
and recyclable, working as a system that integrates itself
in the expository system.
