El
final de la gran carrera de Elfstedentocht debe ir acompañado de un acontecimiento tridimensional que señale
el lugar en la memoria de los ciudadanos. Si además desde él
se domina el último tramo de carrera, podremos imaginar que este
acontecimiento tridimensional sea un híbrido entre una tribuna
e hito paisajístico. Por la propia direccionalidad que los canales,
la autopista y la ciudad de Leeuwarden imponen, este acontecimiento tridimensional
puede tener dos caras, un haz y un envés. Si hacia las orientaciones
Sur y Este se dispone como una ladera de césped artificial con
solarium y tribunas sobre el canal y una pista de hielo, hacia el Norte
puede disponerse un área deportiva con gradas y zona de escalada
de modo que esta organización arquitectónica mínima
puede dar vida al conjunto durante todo el año, a modo de pequeño
centro deportivo, solarium y pista de patinaje. Una marquesina coronará la
colina artificial componiendo un mirador desde el que se domina toda
la ciudad y el paisaje circundantes. La colina artificial será así un
emblema único de lo que la técnica de organización
del territorio holandesa es capaz de hacer cuando se piensa en vertical
y cuando se organiza para celebrar el deporte, el cuerpo, el sol y el
paisaje.
The finish of the great race of the Elfstedentocht should be accompanied by a three-dimensial event which signals the site in the memory of the citizen. If from there, furthermore, the last part of the race is dominated we will be able to imagine that this three-dimensional event is a hybrid between a tribune and a landscaping milestone. Because of the directionality imposed by the canals, the highway and the city of Leeuwarden this three-dimensional event can have two faces: a front and a backside of different nature. If towards the South and East it disposes of a slope consisting of artificial lawn with solarium and tribunes above the canal and a scating park, then towards the North it could house sport installations with tribunes and a climbing zone with the result that this minimum architectural organization could give life to the site during all year basing on the small sports center, solarium and skating track. A shelter structure crowns the artificial hill composing a lookout spot from where one dominates the whole city and the surrounding landscape. This way the artificial hill will be a unique emblem of what organizational technique of the terrain of the Dutch territory is able to do when thinking in vertical and when thinking celebrating sport, body, sun and landscape.
